Get ready for a vivid spectacle that represents London’s multicultural past and present. The Notting Hill Carnival is an event not to be missed by party-lovers this August Bank Holiday. It’s time to put on your dancing shoes and make your way down to Notting Hill, Ladbroke Grove or Westbourne Park on either 28th or 29th August.
What Is Notting Hill Carnival?
It is Europe’s biggest street festival celebrating the capital’s Caribbean communities, their culture and tradition. The festival has taken place every year since 1966 and features two days of live music that ranges from reggae to dubstep. The celebrations also offer a display of soca floats, steel bands and many more exciting events!
Treat yourself to an array of sounds, colours and social solidarity. The event is expected to attract up to a million people who will experience flamboyant dresses, amazing food and family entertainment.
The Carnival floats and bands are set to start at 9am on both Sunday and Monday, running until 7pm.
We suggest you don’t miss out on the Grand Parade Final on Monday that will showcase 60 bands all dressed to the T and performers that will dance to the hypnotic rhythms of mobile sound systems.
It would be a tragedy to get thirsty while enjoying the highly anticipated Carnival. Don’t forget to take your Corkcicle Canteen or Tumbler along for the trip and keep your drinks cold or hot for longer.
